Goldfish. Tons of them.

I don't think anyone had seen that many goldfish at once, except for those who had grown them.
And I didn't know there were so many different kinds.
室町コレドでやっているアートアクアリウム展に行ってきました。会社帰りで混んでいたけど、なんだかすごく不思議で面白かった。一見の価値ありだと思います。

I went to a show called "Art Aquarium" at Muromachi Coredo building in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, where they have this exhibition of different kinds of goldfish in huge fish tanks in a dark hall with special lighting and sound effects. Some fish tanks were venetian glasses.
I had been half expecting to feel a bit scary in front of such number of fish in a tank, but it turned out to be totally beautiful. Many people were exclaiming that it didn't look like fish at all.

Some were traditional kind of goldfish, which you normally see only in vintage prints from Edo era (18-19th Century).

This one below was very special.
What seem like a wall is a series of large screens, with a wall-like fish tanks in front of them.  And in front there are water basin with some dry plant arrangements.

You see, on the screen they show images of four seasons (in the picture below is from winter, snowing), with matching music playing in the background.  And there were always goldfish swimming in the scene.
Really weird beautiful.

It's worth seeing if you happen to be in Tokyo now.

On and off my needles

先週、やっと色々と一段落付いたので念願のDamaskを編み始めました。
このパターンを見たのが、Kitmanを知ったきっかけ。そしてさすが1000人近くの人が編んでいるだけあって、とにかく夢中になれるデザインです。本当に良く出来ている！
前回編んだSeigaihaはすっごく大変だったのですが（編み上がりは素晴らしいのでその甲斐はあるけど）、Damaskは編みやすいし覚えやすいし、そして新しいトリックはあるし、しかも出来てくるレースの美しさといったら！
そろそろ２つ目のチャートも編み終わるので、目数が減ってきて益々編みやすくなってきました（裾から編んでます）。
I started knitting a long-overdue Damask last weekend.  Actually, Damask is the reason we've found Kitman in the first place.  It turned out to be an extremely well written pattern - very easy to remember, easy to knit, have some new tricks, yet the lace design is truly gorgeous.  I am so into it right now.

それから。amirisuを作っている途中で引っ張りだしてきて、このいつかブランケットになるかもしれない物体を少しずつ編んでます（Granny Stripe Blanket)。Macbookが遅くてクルクル回っている間などに１段編んだり、寝る前に１段編んだり。なんとひとつ目のブロック（白い線）まで到達。あと５年くらいはかかりそうですが。
And this blanket (Granny Stripe Blanket).  I was knitting this while working on amirisu issue 1, when my Macbook was very slow and the cursor was turning round and round.  I feel extremely accomplished for having finished the first section.

そして。じゃん。これは出来上がりました。ずっとガーター編みの究極のコンフォートニッティング。それなのに可愛い。裾は三角になるようにちょっと変えました。オリジナルの形よりこっちのほうが良いかな、と思って。
And, yes, this shawl was done recently.  I changed the last bit to my liking(mods explained in my Ravelry page), but otherwise followed the pattern.

今週の金曜日の夜から、rokoさんデザイン、amirisuに掲載させて頂いたLullを「みんなで編みましょう」会がスタートします。rokoさん自身も参加されるということで、自分とのスピードの違いを体感するチャンス！
わたしはMadelinetoshのこの糸で参戦します。ビーズを入れたいのだけど、普通のビーズはこんな太い糸には通らないので、悩み中。

Anntena 今日の気になるもの 9/10

Some of you might know that papercutting is one of my things, although I kind of gave up on that hobby, working full time and knitting and all that.

Still, I have this book on my desk at work, and occasionally flip through it when I need some fresh air.

One of my favorites in this book is Cindy Ferguson.  I wanted to see more of her work, and found her Scherenschnitte blog.  Totally loved it.  It is a must see site, if you like graphic design and paper crafts.

What I love about it the most, is of course, the squirrels in the blog title.  So cute. You can also download many of her designs and cut them out yourself.

I wish I can commission her to create an amirisu Scherenschnitte in exchange of a handknitted hat.

知っている方もいらっしゃるかもしれませんが、わたしは大の切り絵好き。しばらく趣味としてやっていたのですが、仕事と両立できずに、もっと簡単にできる編み物に切り替えました。
でも、会社のデスクには上の写真の本を置いていて、時々頭を切り替えたいときなんかにふらふらと捲っています。

この本の中で、特に気に入っているアーティストの一人がCindy Fergusonという人。他の作品が見たくなって検索してみて、彼女のブログを見つけました。　それが素敵なのさ。

何がいいって、タイトルのリスですよ！そして、すっごく可愛い色々な切り絵の型紙がダウンロードできること。作ってみたい物ばかり。デザインに興味がある人は、是非見てみて下さいね。

Reflection in a hiatus

Yes, I am reflecting myself.  Not in a good way, but not totally unhappily.
そう、自分を振り返ってます。それはポジティブというかー、反省が入りつつ、でもニンマリしつつ。

I bought many things last month, out of stress, for staying at home while I hear people talk about vacation and beaches and mountains and lakes.  And for working on a project that was going anywhere.
先月、ストレスで色々な物を買いました。みんながバケーションで真っ黒になって帰って来、ビーチや山や湖の写真を見せてくれるたび、そして筋の悪いプロジェクトにアサインされてミーティングに出るたび。溜め息をつきながら、「えいっ」と。

But, I managed (with my colleague) to sort the project out at work, and yay, amirisu  issue #1 was done.
So in September and October, I've planned travels and dinners and brunches and knittings.  And, why it's still so busy?
でも、同僚の皆さんのおかげでプロジェクトは軌道に戻り、amirisuもなんとか完成。
９月と１０月は旅行や食事や休日のブランチや、色々な予定を入れているのだけど、なんだかまだ忙しい。なんでかな？

Anyhow, I promised you to show "some" of the things that I bought.
それはさておき、お見せすると約束していた、「一部の」物たちはこれ。

Entry #1.  A cute cute yellow leather bag.
It's made by a Japanese handmade leather goods manufacturer, REN.
Oh, don't click - you'll want to order everything.  Like, I already know which one I will order next, and the one after.
黄色のレザーバッグ。蔵前にあるRENのオンラインショップで買いました（リンクは上）。あ、見ない方がいいですよ。全部買いたくなって、下手するといくつもオーダーしちゃいます。私はもう次に買うのも、その次に買うのも決めてます。
Entry #2.  A yellow hairband.  This was just $5, so I guess it doesn't count.
(the Kindle cover has been with me for 2 years? now. Not new.)
黄色いヘアバンド。まあ、これは数百円なので、カウントに入らないよね。Kindleカバーはもう２年くらい使ってます。おんなじ黄色だったから。

Entry #3.   This lovely pillows, from Etsy.  I literally ordered them in 5 minutes.  I am not apologizing. Laura Frisk, you are so talented.
She has carved these designs out of wood panels, and hand printed on fabrics.  You can pick both paint and fabric colors.  If she had a squirrel, I would have ordered one more.
そして、この可愛いピローたち！！！！Etsyのページを開き、トップページに発見し、ものの数分でオーダーしてしまいました。だって、可愛いんだもん。まだとても若いグラフィックアーティストが自分で版画を彫り、生地にプリントしてピローを作ってます。ペイントと生地（前と後ろ）の色は選べます。
リスがあったら、もう一個買っていたところでした。

Entry #4.  A silk yarn from DyeForYarn.  This color is called "dead roses" or something.  I love their color naming skill, too.
それから、シルクの糸。「死んだバラの花」という色名だったと思うんだけど、このネーミングのセンスが好き。

I don't have photos for other acquisitions, so, more, next time (perhaps).
まだ他にもありますが、写真を撮っていないの。また気が向いたら、紹介します。

amirisu online magazine

We have launched a new knitting magazine - sort of - on August 31, non-Japanese time.  http://www.amirisu.com
It took me the whole weekend and a day to finally recover somewhat, and to resume preparing for the issue #2.

On Friday evening, we ended up finishing the site and Ravelry pages after midnight, after 1AM.  I was so nervous that my stomach actually hurt.

BUT.
From the moment of the launch, we kept receiving congratulations and pattern sales and tweets - we could hardly sleep (Tokuko was staying with me for the night, because we knew it was going to be an overnight work).

On Saturday, we got up very early, still nervous.  Thankfully, there weren't any critical issue, and we kept receiving messages from all over Japan, from all over the world.

Wow.  We had never expected that.

Our small ambition somehow turned itself into a big thing.  I have no idea when that happened.
Come to think of it, I am still amazed that our designers have decided to work with us.  We had absolutely nothing to show to them.  And right after we announced about our intention back in March, Mari (Mari Tobita, who designes for VK and BT!) offered her help to us.  We owe you so much, Mari-san.

Now that we've got something to show to you, we can easily say "come and join us!"  Call for Submission for our next issue will open from tomorrow.  The next issue will be around early February, so it could contain some wintery clothes but also spring fashion.  It's going to be great.

Thank you so much for all your supports in the past, and your love letters and positive waves coming towards us in the last few days.  Sending you our love back!

amirisu創刊♥

３度目の正直、７転び８起き、みたいな。
ってタイトルにしようかと思ったのだけど、雑誌の宣伝もしなければならないので、一応雑誌の創刊ってことにしておきました。

雑誌と言っても、雑誌風に仕立てたウェブサイトです。
去年トクコさんと「雑誌やろうか」と盛り上がったときには、本当にオシャレな日本語の本が少なかったので「編みたいものを発信したい」という欲求もあったのですが。
私実は「新生・毛糸だま」のファン。編集長さんが変わったと聞きました。わたしもこんなのがやりたい、というコンテンツを発信して下さっています。それに、近頃かわいい編み物本も少しずつ増えてきました。ちょっとずつ、世代交代しているのかな？
私は海外の本も読めるので、実はあんまり困っていないのです。それでも自分たちで何かを立ち上げたいと思った裏には、別な理由があります。

日本の本や雑誌は殆どが糸メーカーさんのスポンサー記事で成り立っているということです。もちろん、それはOKです。世の中のファッション雑誌だって、結局はそう。化粧品の紹介コーナーも、結局全部のメーカーから万遍なく取り上げ、良いことしか書いてありません。それはそうです、スポンサーだもん。
（最近は新聞もそんなのが増えました。数ヶ月前に日経新聞をやめてしまったのだけど、近頃、普通の記事に見せかけた広告記事が多いな、とちょっとガッカリしたのもきっかけです。）

そして同じくスポンサーである編み物学校の卒業生さんたちが紙面では活躍されています。それはそうです、スポンサーだもん。そしてお金を払って資格をとった生徒さんたちに仕事を作るのは、至極当然のことです。

私たちはamirisuで、そうじゃない普通の人が活躍する場を作りたい。それが最初からの二人の思いです。

加えて、私が個人的にライフワークと考えているのは、女性が好きなところに住んで、手仕事（やネットを使った仕事）で生計がたてられるような社会にしたい、ということ。デザイナーやアーティストへの報酬が極端に少ない日本の状況も、どうにかしたい（ああ、こんなこと言ったら壮大過ぎ。。。分かってます）
もちろん、私個人がそうしたいから、という理由です。そして、それは環境政策、都市計画、まちづくりを専攻した自分なりの結論でもあります。（普段から問題意識を持ってらっしゃる方はピンと来ると思うので、長くなるので詳しくは説明しません。）

そしてもう一つ。
普通の出版社から出ている本は世の中の編み物ファンの平均像に合わせて内容を作っていて、それが一番売れるんだと思うんです。

私たちは偶然二人ともそれが好みではなかったので、違う物を作りたいと思ったんですけど、正直ニッチだと思っています。ニッチだと思うので、日本人だけを対象にしたら全く採算が取れないと思い、バイリンガルにしました。
行く行くはスポンサーさんが増えれば、デザイナーの皆さんや読者の方々に還元したいと思います。今は大きくマイナスなので、目指せ「とんとん！」という様子ですが（笑）。そうなっても、スポンサーさんの好きな物ではなくて、amirisuの好きな物を紹介し、それに賛同してくれる方々に広告を出して頂きたいと思っています。
そんな広告主さんが、アートで生計を立てたい個人だったら、もっと最高。


３度目の正直の話を書こうと思ったのだけど、長くなりすぎちゃったので、今日のところは創刊への思い、に留めておきます。

今日昔の自分の記事を読んでいて、いいこと書いてるな、と思いました。英語ですが。

ちょっと休憩 Little Break

今日は会社を休んでいます。有給を取って、amirisuの大詰め。
会社の皆さん、大事なミーティングがあったのに済みません。
明日休んでも良かったんだけど、明日いきなり大事件が起こったらリカバーできないかと思って。

この２週間、なんども思いました。
（１）なんで雑誌やろうなんて言ったんだっけ？編む時間ないじゃん。
（２）まだ創刊していないのに、色々な経路でフォローしてくれたりグループに参加くださったりしている数百人の方々 (ありがとうございます！）。蓋を開けてみたら、期待に添えていなかったらどうしよう？

はあ、プレッシャー。
でも採用させていただいたデザインも秀逸だし、写真もモデルさんも素敵だし、記事もなかなかいいレベルになっていると思っています。

それ以外、至らない点は次号からどしどし直して行きますので、ジャニーズJr.を見守るような感覚でゆるりと応援してくれたらいいなー。と、創刊前に申し上げておきます（笑）

I'm taking a day off today, working on the last bits (lots of bits) with Tokuko.

The recurring thoughts in the last few weeks are:
(1) Why in the world had I thought about starting a magazine?  I don't have time to knit!
(2) A few hundred people are already following us (thank you!!!)... what if their expectations are sky-high?

I'm fighting with the pressure.
But we believe our designers are fantastic, the photographer and the model is kind of perfect, and our articles are also pretty intriguing.

Of course, there are already so many thing that we wanted to do otherwise, but we will get there, in the next issues.  So please support us warmly and kindly as you support an immature kids idol group. :)

La Luz Magica

I don't have time enough to translate this post in proper English.  But it's about the most gorgeous issue from the magazine I used to work for, as an editor.

昨日雑誌大人買いしちゃったという（またもや）Tweetをしたきり、やっぱり夜中まで作業しちゃったので今ブログ書いてます。
上は、私がまだ社会人成りたてホヤホヤの頃にお世話になっていた出版社です。当時は「お世話になっている」という自覚すらなかった若者でした。

英語が出来たので色々なところに行かせてもらいました。その行き先の一つが、「バルセロナに行って鈴木久雄さんに『一緒に本作りましょうって言ってきて』」というもの。
鈴木久雄さんというのは、建築写真界の坂本龍一のような方です。世界中の建築写真家に尊敬され、一目置かれる。写真は一目見れば判ります。
予定を繰り合わせて行きましたが鈴木さんご本人は取材でいらっしゃらなくて、奥様にバルセロナを案内してもらい、最近の作品などを見せてもらい。もうかれこれ１０年ちょっと前のことです。夜、二人で街の中心、繁華街から一歩折れて有名な美術館の建物を見、一瞬暗い角にさしかかったとき。私は強盗に遭いました。鞄を引っ張られ、斜めがけしていたのに引っ張り合いになり、悲鳴を上げているのに相手は諦めず、ついに鞄の革のストラップが切れて持ち去られました。お財布とカメラとパスポートとホテルの鍵。
その悲鳴を聞いた誰かが警察を呼んでくれて（だったら助けてくれと言いたい）、奥様と警察に行き、そこでやはりスリや強盗にあった各国のバックパッカーの若者から傷の手当をしてもらい（ストラップがちぎれた瞬間飛ばされて怪我をした）、御座なりのポリスレポートを書いてもらい、とぼとぼとホテルに戻りました。
結局パスポートは翌日、空の鞄とホテルの鍵とともに捨てられているのが見つかり、幸運にも旅行を続けることができたのですが。
もう二度とスペインなんか行くものか。
強く心に誓った旅でした。
そのショックで、見せてもらった鈴木さんの作品やお話など、全くと言っていいほど覚えてません。覚えているのは、前日に見たミースのバルセロナパヴィリオンの美しさだけ。

ただし、鈴木久雄さんとわたしの縁はそれでは終わらなかった。

後日会社に送られてきた最新のポートフォリオ。
編集長がそれをじっくり見た後、「ちょっとスロベニアに行ってこれとこれ見てきて。」
スロベニアってどこ？
クロアチアの上、アドリア海に面した、旧ユーゴの一国です。
スロベニアでは結構名の知れた、若手の２組の建築家に会い、久雄さんの撮影したミュージアムやリノベーション中の古い建物を見学（要は工事現場）し、美しいユブリヤーナですごく不思議な数日を過ごしてきました。

久雄さんの撮影された建物、確かに奇麗だったんだけど、でも久雄さんの写真の方が倍くらい美しかったのです。それを自分の目で見比べて、写真の威力という物を少しだけ垣間見、久雄さんのカリスマと呼ばれる所以を理解した気がしたのでした。

それから１０年と少し。
わたしの知る限り鈴木さんの本はこれまで出ていなかったので、これがあの時ボスが言っていた「一緒に本作りましょう」の結果なんだなと、手に取ったのでした。
中は溜め息が出る美しさ。
タイトルは「ラ・ルース・マヒカ」、魔法のひかり。

Five.More.Days.

 This is what you get when you get up at 5:30 on Saturday morning, nervous about your work.  Not bad, huh?
土曜日、終わらない仕事が気がかりで5時半に目覚める。眠い。
でもゴミを出しにいってみたら、こんな空。

My fridge is pretty empty, then I remembered that I bought some pasta seasoning in Italy.  It was divine.
家から出ていなくて食べるものがない。と思っていたら、イタリアからこんなものを買ってきていたのを思い出した。ポルチーニ茸のパスタシーズニング。同じくイタリア土産のドライトマトと和えて、パスタに。つかの間の幸せ。

さて、仕事に戻ります。

これが編み隊 (We want to knit this!)

今変換ミスで出てきたこのタイトル。シリーズ化しようかと思いつきました。
疲れている今日この頃。
仕事も目一杯、帰宅してからは毎晩夜中まで作業。
今週は上司もチームメンバーも夏休みでいないので、出来れば仕事をサボりたいのに、全然サボれていなくて、ツラい。。。頼る相手がいる日常の有り難さが身にしみます。。。
It's been another exhausting week... working fully plus working on amirisu during the evenings. I was expecting to have some "free time" this week, because everyone in my team (including our boss) is away on vacation. It turned out to be even harder without them. Made me realize how I should appreciate the support that I am getting from my team.

Now, I am still working from home for both works, but I found this pattern in Ravelry.
で、まだ会社の仕事もamirisu仕事も途中なのですが、Ravelryを見ていてふと、目に留まったこのパターン。

今編んでいるショールももうすぐ出来上がりそうで、今編んでいるカーディガンはこの夏は着れなそうなので、次はこれかな、なんて希望に胸膨らませてamirisuの仕事に戻ります。「９月はゆっくり出来る」が最近私たちの合い言葉になってます（笑）

So cute.
The shawl that I am knitting is almost done, and the cardigan that I am knitting is not likely to make it this year, so this is going to be my next project after the launch of amirisu?
Our key phrase these days is "we will have some time in September!."

ちなみに、休みにもどこにも行けないストレスを秒速オンラインショッピングで解消しているので、９月になったら収穫物一覧（大漁）をご紹介できるかと思います。
なかなか良いもの揃いですぞ。
Anyway, I am releasing my stress through online shopping (which only takes a few seconds, really), so I'm going to show you my recent acquisitions (lots of them) sometime in September. You'll love them!

Deciphering and Simplifying and Programming

These are the books that I have been reading since Friday. I've finished PHP and Joomla, decided that I should stick with HTML and CSS.
Things have become so much more complicated since last time I learned how to build a website. The "we'll do everything for you" softwares add crazy number of tags in their outputs, so that deciphering what are happening is almost impossible.
No wonder there are so many website developers and programmers.
They are making things complicated that normal people cannot decode what they are doing.
So that we have to hire them to maintain our websites - namely, our storefronts/bookkeepers/shopkeepers these days.

When I write HTML, I try to have structures and I aim to make things very simple.  I don't believe in people who write complicated scripts, who use difficult languages, and who make things unnecessarily complicated.  I don't think they are that smart.

And, Anthology magazine... *sigh*.  Why are you not available for subscription in Japan??

Cloud Study

I haven't stepped out of my apartment since Friday evening, working on our magazine. But I can still look at the clouds from my balcony.
雑誌の作業で金曜の夜から家を一歩も出ていないのですが、でもバルコニーから雲の観察はしてます。
なんとか今晩中にメドを付けたい。

This below, I think, looks kind of like a greek god or an American comic hero... like big body and huge left fist!

So many clouds today.
あー、外に行きたい。。

This kind of looks like a submarine, seen from underneath?
I think I miss beach and water.
海に行きたいんだと思います。早く８月が終わらないかと、夢に見るくらい考えてます。

Anntena 今日の気になるもの 8/13

今日は本を２冊紹介。

最近忙しいくせに本が読みたくて、つい色々買い込んでしまう話は昨日書きました。

今日、スケッチトラベル（下）の発売を知り、買おうと思って出かけたツタヤで出会ってしまったのが、クリエーターズ・トークという本（上）。

I'm introducing 2 books today, one is only in Japanese so skipping here - it's a lecture series at the University of Tokyo with top creative directors in Japan.

広告に関わるクリエーターをゲストに対談をした、東大の講義録。
なんか今時「広告なんて」と思うんですけど、なんとなく気になってみて手に取ったら、これが。読み始めたら面白いんですよ。一番目は 佐藤可士和さんなんですけど、完全に広告の枠をはみ出た問題解決屋さん。


そして、「ほぼ日」で知った先週土曜日発売の「スケッチトラベル」。
ピクサーでも活躍の堤大介さんとフランス人のアーティスト、ジェラルドゲレルさんが始めた共同プロジェクト。世界中の有名なイラストレーターの間を手渡しで回ったスケッチブックには、精魂込められた７０余りのイラストが。しかも、完成品はオークションにかけられ、収益は恵まれない地域に図書館を作るのに使われたという。
今日は買えなかったんですけど、この本が欲しいんです。

And, this Sketchtravel.
It's a project of Daisuke Tsutsumi, a Japanese art director who has won Cannes award for his Toy Story 3 work, and a French artist Gerald Gerel.  They had hit upon this idea to hand over a sketchbook from the world most famous illustrators to another, and raise a fund to build libraries in the poorest communities.
The outcome book has been published just last Saturday, and I really want a copy for myself.

Drops of the Sky

I've been taking lots of sky photos these days, always from the same place, my balcony.  Today's sky was very special.

And this, below, taken with iPhone several days ago on my way home, was the biggest pink cloud I'd ever witnessed.  There was another huge one on the right, but no way I could capture both with an iPhone camera.

Weekends in August

This time, 3/4 of my weekend, including sleeping hours, was spent working towards launching a new magazine. My weekend in August has been and will be like this, unavoidably. But finally I began to see a bit of a light on far end of the tunnel.

And at last, around 6 o'clock on Sunday evening, I realized that I hadn't done anything this past 2 days apart from work ( I didn't even watch the Olympic Games).

So.

One thing I had hit upon this afternoon is that these vintage chairs need oiling.
That, their lives are upon my shoulders now, and there is no one else to take care of them.
They may die early deaths without someone polish them and nurture them.
Quite true.
So, I put out a wax can and an old cloth, and got down to work until it was deeply dark outside.

I've had these chairs for several years now, and I wonder why the idea never hit upon me until today. After polishing, the old wood surface looks very charming and warm.
The work itself was a good way to take my mind off from editorial work as well. I really wanted to polish more, but I don't have anything else to polish in my apartment, so I even thought about volunteering at a neighborhood library to polish their old wooden chairs. Well.

I ended up polishing my leather boots and shoes. Someone was really in the polishing state.

And these 3 photos are my new weekend companions. Espresso machine, a new pottery mug, and a bunch of wool to spin.

St. Lorenzo

I still have tons of photos to show you from Italy.  Just it's been crazy busy these days.  While my day job is demanding as ever, I still try to knit and read (end up accumulating books after books that I have not read) and catch glimpses of the Olympic Games.  All the while, I do bits and pieces of amirisu work.
まだイタリアの写真、全然公開できていなくて。いい写真一杯あるんだけどな。ただ、最近もう全然余裕がないんです。仕事は目一杯だし、その合間に編んで読んで（でも読みたいと買う本ばかり溜まっていく。。）少しオリンピックを見て。そして残った総ての時間はamirisuに充てています。（あ、amirisuの残りで読んで編んで、かな。）

But, finally, I finished knitting this piece.  This cotton tee was made with the yarn I bought in Siena.  I named it St. Lorenzo, because the textile looks a bit like the church in Florence. Pattern by myself.
でも、漸くこのニットが出来上がりました。シエナで買ってきたコットンのテープヤーンで編みました。St. Lorenzoと名付けたのは、フィレンツェのSt. Lorenzo教会のファサードに似てるかな、と思って。デザインは私。

Actually, this piece was almost done for a few weeks.  It knits up very fast with 6.5mm needles, besides, it's just 2 squares sewn together.  The special part of it is this shoulder seam - I knitted in a string of heavy metal chain with a fancy yarn.
もうね、殆ど出来ていたんですよ。もともと6.5mmの針で編んでいるから早いし、ただ真直ぐ四角いものを２枚合わせただけです。工夫は肩の部分。変わり糸でチェーンを編み込みました。今朝、ちょこっと仕上げをして出来上がり。嬉しい！

The only tricky part was to decide the length of the chain.  I had to redo it several times. Can't wait to wear it outside!
チェーンの長さとかは難しくて、何度か解いてやり直しました。最終的にはいい感じに。着るの楽しみ。

Sportif?

Ravelryという、編み物愛好家にとっては無くては生きられないSNSサービスがあるのですが、それが日進月歩で進化していてスゴいのです。例えば、このブランドのこの色の毛糸を買いたいっていうとき、リンクされている毛糸ショップの在庫や値段を比較したり、在庫切れの場合はリストックしたら自動で連絡を貰ったりもできるのですが、それ以外にも個人で使わないから売りたいっていう人を世界中から簡単に見つけて遣り取りすることも出来ます。手数料はタダ。

と、そんな話ではなくて、編んでます。

Ravellenic Games (以前はRavelrynpicsと言っていたんだけど、チームを組んで一定期間にどれくらい編めるか競うらしい（笑））というものが、オリンピックの開会式と同時にスタートしたらしいのですが、私は「忙しいから」と思って参加しませんでした。でも何故か編んでいる。
なんか、仕事のストレスでしょうか。
今日は本当はビーチで写真を撮る、という写真教室に申し込んでいたのですが、疲れていて身体が動かず、１日家から一歩も出ず。天気も悪いし、と思っていたけど、やっぱり夕日が綺麗だったみたいで、行きたかったー。

これは、以前キットを買ってみたショール。ひたすらガーター編みなので、サッカーを見ながら編んだりするのに丁度いいのです。だから放っとかれていたのが復活してます。

そして、急にスピニングもしたくなっちゃったのは。。理由は不明。

もとはこれ。下が糸にしたところ。
普通に編んでフェルト化してポーチでも作ろうかと思ったところ、編み地が余りにも可愛いので勿体無くなり、一度解きました。。
そして、脇に見えている小さい固まりは、Navajo Plyという３本取りで寄り合わせる方法を始めて試してみました。

そして、前何かに使った羊毛の残りがあったので、それも紡いでしまいました。
もとのこんな色だったのを、色別に分けて梳かして。
何故か女子サッカー見ながら夜中にやり始めてしまい。

これを片っ端から紡ぐとこんな感じになります。

最近やっと、切れずに細い糸が紡げるようになりました。以前は毛糸のお化けのようだったけど、今ではちょっと一人前。

でも、紡ぎ機ってやりかけを停めておくのが（不可能じゃないけど）難しいので、やり始めると結局最後まで一気にするしかなくて、途中でお腹がすいても喉が渇いても頑張っちゃいます。何時間も糸車を漕ぐの、実はかなり疲れます。

下は、同じものを２本取りにしたところ（だいぶランダム。。。）。今一旦濡らして水気を切って、バスルームにぶら下げているところです。

明日は絶対家の外に出るぞ。

Countdown

少し前、地下鉄で目撃した、男の子のこんなTシャツ。
将に今の心境。
The boy's T-shirts says "I'm off to a road trip...please don't look for me."  Exactly how I feel right now.

いえ、別に現実から逃げたい訳じゃないんですよ。
でも外は暑いし、仕事は忙しいのに、amirisuが佳境に入ってきました。
会社の仕事は自分がやらなくてもまあ、なんとかなるじゃないですか。
だからオホーツク海でも眺めながら、誘惑のないところでamirisuの仕事をしたいなあ、とか、夢膨らませる今日この頃。
It's not that I want to abandon everything and hide away.  It's just it's so hot out there, and I'm so busy at work and with amirisu.  I wish I could take a loooong vacation from work and go to someplace cool to concentrate on our magazine.

なんせ、amirisuの創刊日（と時間）が決まりました。あと本当に１ヶ月！
今日、また昼間の仕事のあとで作戦会議をしてきました。まだまだやること＆決めることが一杯！そして、段々コトが大事になってきているので、内心慌てふためいています。

amirisuのブログなどをフォローして下さっていない方々へ、ちょっとアップデート。最近、
(1) Twitter始めました。順調にFollowerさんも増えているかな？
(2) ニュースレター開始しました。昨晩第１号を送信。あー、緊張した！ウェブサイトから登録できます。次号は２週間後です。
(3) 創刊記念パーティーやることになりました。協賛企業、鋭意募集中です（ってさっきそういう話になったんですけど。。。）
(4) 創刊号の広告主様、こちらも鋭意募集中！本当はご案内資料も完成しているのですが、まだアナウンスとか出来ていません。。。やることリストに追加。もしご興味があればメール、コメント下さいね。

ああ、一人旅に出たい。

The launch date for amirisu has been finalized.  We've got exactly one month!
Today after work, we had another editorial meeting, and were daunted by the fact that there are still so much to do.  And things are increasingly getting bigger and out of our hand.

For those of you not particularly following our magazine's progress, here are some recent happenings:
(1) We have a Twitter account now, and have about 100 followers already ;)
(2) Our very first newsletter went out last night.  The 2nd one will be out in 2 weeks, so please sign-up before that if you are interested.
(3) We, of all things, have decided to throw an opening party in early September.  And we are looking for lovely sponsor companies :)
(4) And as a matter of fact, we've got a media kit for advertisers ready. It's just we haven't been able to do the announcement yet.  If you are interested, please do let me know!

So, all in all, I really want to go on a road trip...
