Voyage and Adventure

I'm off to yet another adventure in several hours.
And am still working. At 2 AM.

Leaving high heels behind in Tokyo, bringing only flats, I will be down on the ground, feeling the earth closer.

I'll be down at this villa in Italy, and then go wondering in the northern land.  I promise I will bring back massive amount of energy for you.

Siena Love

It is the town I love. Period.
Siena is of course famous for the piazza, and the festival, and may be the toscan cuisine, or perhaps the bank.  But it was the streets that captures you and try to bring you back there.

Since how long ago people ventured through these narrow paths and looked up the sky?  What did they feel?

We stayed in the city overnight, and dined at this restaurant.  It could be the best food we'd had in Italy this time.  I cannot remember the name of the place, but if you ever visit the town, this is the place to go.

And the evenings.

The cathedral in Siena seems to be often compared to the one in Florence.  They are completely different, and incomparable.  It is mind-blowingly decorative, I didn't know what to say - whether it was great, beautiful, or banal or grotesque.

I loved these Harry Potter-ish books in their museum.

Toscan land.

des Medici

Sparkles from Florence

I will post my favorite photos from the last trip to Italy and Amsterdam, all of them, today.  So please bare with me.

We stayed at a lovely 2 bedroom apartment within a few minutes walk from the Duomo.  It was totally magical - especially with a view to this patio and lovely neighbors across.  We took bunch of photos while eating breakfast in the kitchen.

Then, of course went out for strolls.

Below, I don't know why this belongs to my favorite, but something about the people filling the gap between buildings.

At Santa Maria della Novella.  I bought a face cream but these old bottled syrups were so pretty.

And we did what we have to do if you are in Florence - going up to the top of Duomo, and seeing the most beautiful bridge in the world in sunset.

Review.

At work, we've got a thing called "mid-term review", which, it's a secret so don't tell anyone, my boss totally ignores even if I reminded him nicely.
But, hey, I am doing my own mid-term review and it's not for my daytime job.
I realized I haven't shown you my Italy photos yet... here is one.
A door to a courtyard of our apartment.
I have written this article earlier this year ("I'm up to some things this year"), and basically what I had written were:
(1) Do more exercise.
(2) Launch an online magazine
(3) Relearn driving
(4) Study maths
(5) Live more simply

OK.  So how am I faring up to now?
(1) I did start to hike.  I haven't gone hiking since March, but I have every intention of starting it again from October.  Actually, I will be hiking during my vacation in October.
Also, I had been going to a training session once a week for about 4 months.  It's just since July, I have been working non-stop.  I think I am going to do something else after I get back from my vacation.

(2) Launching an online magazine - yay ==<3  I did it, we did it, didn't we? (wink)

(3) So. This is the reason I remembered about the goal list for this year.  Because I am taking a driving lesson tomorrow!  Ooooow, so excited, and so scared.  I haven't driven in 6 years.  And my driving skill was very poor to start with.  Please wish me luck and send me all your blessings so that I will still be alive on Saturday to report back to you.

(4) Well.  It just hit upon me that I don't have to do statistical analysis on my own.  I might as well hire someone to do it - I am not that young any more and "you have to delegate", right? ;)

(5) Right.  This is the one I am so embarrassed about.  You know how my living room looks like right this moment?  Piles and piles of books, and dozens of skeins of yarn on top of them.  Please tell me what to do (not including throwing them away).  I know, I should try harder with this one.

Lull KAL Day2

A bunch of us have started a Lull KAL on Raverly last night.  It's still ongoing, and anyone is welcomed.  Even if you have long been knitting Lull, no problem.

Ravelry上でKAL(Knit-Alongの略、皆で一緒に編みましょう、の会)をやっています。
